Grip Tapes
Grip Tapes Overview
Grip Tapes are multiple-layer materials typically consisting of a high friction top layer bonded to an adhesive layer with a removable paper liner. Common names for Grip Tapes include Anti-Slip Tape and Non-Slip Tape. Trade names include 3M™ Safety-Walk™ Slip Resistant Tread, 3M™ Gripping Material, and Gator Grip™ Anti-Slip Tape. Laser cutting Grip Tapes can be done with a 9.3 or 10.6 micron CO2 laser. The laser beam heats and quickly vaporizes the material that is directly in the beam path, creating a clean cut through all layers. Laser cutting Grip Tapes is advantageous because many of the high friction top layers include abrasive materials that can quickly dull the cutting blades of mechanical tools with traditional cutting edges.
