PEEK (polyether ether ketone) is a semi-crystalline thermoplastic that exhibits excellent mechanical, chemical, and thermal properties. Trademark names of PEEK include Avaspire® and APTIV™. Laser processing of PEEK is possible with a 9.3, 10.6, or 1.06 micron laser. Laser cutting and engraving of PEEK are possible with a 9.3, 10.6 CO₂ laser. Laser marking of PEEK is possible with a 1.06 micron fiber laser. Laser cutting of PEEK creates clean sharp edges with minimal darkening. Laser engraving of PEEK with a CO₂ laser results in a high contrast in the engraving area with both depth and darkening. Laser marking of PEEK can be performed with a 1.06 micron fiber laser and creates a sharp, permanent black mark.
